Our Approach to Privacy

MirrorEthic is built on principles of clarity, consent, and non-extractive design.

We believe people should understand how and why their information is handled, and retain meaningful agency over it. This Privacy Policy explains, plainly and transparently, how we collect and use information when you visit the MirrorEthic website.

We collect only what is necessary to operate the site, communicate with you when you choose to reach out, and understand—at a high level—how the site is being used so we can improve it. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising, profiling, or behavioral targeting.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide Voluntarily

You may choose to provide information to us in the following ways:

  • Contact forms: name, organization (if provided), email address, and message content

  • Newsletter sign-ups: email address (optional and never pre-selected)

Providing this information is entirely voluntary. You may also contact us directly by email instead of using the contact form.

b. Usage and Analytics Information

We use Squarespace Analytics to understand how visitors engage with the MirrorEthic website. This includes information such as:

  • pages visited

  • approximate location (e.g. country or region)

  • referring sources (e.g. direct, search, or links)

  • device and browser type

This information is used to understand aggregate patterns of use — including how visitors find the site and which pages are most useful — not to identify or track individuals.

Analytics are collected through cookies and similar technologies and are subject to your cookie preferences.

As part of its platform infrastructure, Squarespace may also set certain cookies that relate to advertising or cross-site tracking. These cookies are controlled by Squarespace, not by MirrorEthic. MirrorEthic does not access advertising-related data from these cookies or use them for profiling or behavioral targeting.

Due to platform limitations, these cookies may be enabled by default. You can disable non-essential cookies at any time using the cookie controls provided on the site.

c. Security and Spam Prevention

Our contact forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which helps prevent spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA may collect device and usage information as part of this security function. Google’s processing of this information is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • respond to inquiries and messages you send us

  • share updates or communications you explicitly opt into

  • understand how visitors find the site and where traffic originates

  • understand, at a high level, how the website is used

  • improve site clarity, content, and accessibility

  • protect the site from spam and abuse

We do not use personal information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or automated decision-making.

4. Cookies and Consent

The MirrorEthic website uses cookies and similar technologies for essential site functionality and for analytics.

  • Essential cookies are required for the site to function.

  • Analytics cookies help us understand site usage and are used only with your consent, where required by law.

While MirrorEthic uses analytics only to understand site usage at an aggregate level, some cookies may be set by Squarespace as part of its hosting platform and cannot be selectively disabled by MirrorEthic prior to consent. You retain control over these cookies through the site’s cookie management tools.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information.

We share information only with service providers necessary to operate the site, including:

  • Squarespace (website hosting and analytics)

  • Google (reCAPTCHA spam prevention)

These providers process information on our behalf and in accordance with their own privacy policies.

6. Data Retention

  • Contact and correspondence information is retained for as long as needed to respond to inquiries, maintain context for ongoing or potential follow-up communication, or conclude the matter to which it relates. Information associated with inquiries that are no longer active or relevant is periodically reviewed and deleted.

  • Newsletter subscription information is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

  • Analytics data is retained in accordance with Squarespace’s standard retention practices and is used only in aggregate form.

You may request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at contact@mirrorethic.com.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you

  • request correction or deletion of your information

  • withdraw consent for analytics cookies

You can exercise these rights by contacting us at contact@mirrorethic.com.

8. International Visitors

MirrorEthic operates from the United States, but our website is accessible globally. If you access the site from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the United States in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
